“Institutional investment goes in waves,” said Jim Wirth, Senior Vice President with TRI Commercial/CORFAC International. “Especially when traditional investments are taking a beating, agriculture is seen as a good way to diversify a portfolio.” Wirth was not involved with this transaction. “Ag has always had pretty consistent returns,” Wirth added. “You are buying a good investment over time, plus you have the underlying asset.”
Read MoreAs a whole, the Bay Area has strong office leasing fundamentals, powered by years of consecutive job growth and high, consistent levels of institutional investment. However, the cream of the crop when it comes to office space is San Francisco; its reputation as a world class city and major financial and tech hub continues to spur competition among office tenants. With only seven square miles to spare — an even smaller portion of which is dedicated to commercial and office uses — real estate comes at a premium, and lease rates are high. A number of comparison reports compiled by brokerage firms active in the region, shows the levels of leasing across a broad spectrum of office spaces. The comparisons were compiled by CBRE, Newmark Knight Frank, Cushman & Wakefield, Avison Young and TRI Commercial, and they provide the companies’ best estimates into the leasing activity within the City. Dated from between November 2018 to February 2019, the reporting details what many of San Francisco’s companies are paying for space throughout the city.

Read MoreWith all of this retail activity buzzing in Walnut Creek, it seems to be the place for veteran retail real estate brokers. John Sechser is certainly that. He is a well-known fixture on the commercial real estate scene, having spent numerous years at Transwestern, Colliers International, Grubb & Ellis and Bishop Hawk.
And now, Sechser has joined the team at TRI Commercial/CORFAC International, according to president Tom Martindale. His expertise includes retail leasing as well as representing retail tenants with site selection requirements, and negotiating leases and investment sales. Sechser’s new position at TRI is East Bay retail services managing director. He was most recently a senior vice president/director of retail operations with Transwestern in Walnut Creek. Ed Del Beccaro managed that office until joining TRI Commercial a few weeks ago as executive vice president and East Bay regional manager.
Read MoreWALNUT CREEK, CA—A name known by many in the East Bay and entire Bay Area commercial real estate industry is Ed Del Beccaro. This industry veteran has been a fixture in many a transaction in the past 40-plus years. In his latest move, the former East Bay and Silicon Valley senior managing director of Transwestern has been recruited by TRI Commercial/CORFAC International. Charles Wall, TRI Commercial chairman of the board, made the initial call to recruit Del Beccaro due to the pair’s longstanding relationship.
“We sensed an opportunity to bring on one of the East Bay’s top real estate executives and producers and seized it,” Wall tells GlobeSt.com.
Effective immediately, Del Beccaro becomes TRI’s executive vice president and East Bay regional manager based in Walnut Creek, according to TRI president Tom Martindale. Del Beccaro has nearly 40 years of real estate experience in the Bay Area, including founding a development company and launching the offices of Colliers Parrish International in Walnut Creek and Stockton (now Colliers International), where he was instrumental in the growth and development of transaction and property management services. He took over the East Bay and Silicon Valley management role for Transwestern in February 2015.
Del Beccaro points to technology’s and public companies’ influence on commercial real estate as the impetus for his move, albeit in a roundabout way. “The commercial real estate brokerage model is being disrupted by a combination of technology, such as automation, auctions and blockchain, and the top five or six firms answering to Wall Street as public companies,” Del Beccaro tells GlobeSt.com. “That leaves the entire middle market as a battleground for highly personalized high-touch brokerage and management services. A strong regional firm like TRI Commercial with its commitment to long-term local ownership is in a good position to win a lot of that business and I want to be part of it.”
Del Beccaro started his career in 1977 with Grubb & Ellis and founded/managed a development company from 1983 to 1992. He is a specialist in office and retail leasing and sales, distressed properties, land sales, commercial mixed-use projects, medical office and securing project entitlements. He has completed more than 2 million square feet of tenant representation assignments on behalf of UCSF, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, various local and regional banks, area developers and many other Bay Area clients. He is currently serving or has formerly served on more than a dozen local boards, including as co-chair of the Bay Area Council Transportation Task Force, vice chair of the Economic Alliance for Business, and co-chair of the Transportation Task Force East Bay Leadership Council, the California Technology Council, California Shakespeare Theater, Chamber Music San Francisco, JFK University, Walnut Creek Library Foundation and the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce.
Approximately three-quarters of the top 15 fastest-growing locations are in either the East Bay or Solano County. Jurisdictions posting population increases of approximately 3% or more since 2016 include Rio Vista (Solano County), Gilroy (Santa Clara County), Newark (Alameda County) and Brentwood (Contra Costa County), according to Bay Area Metro.

“TRI Commercial is extremely pleased with the addition of Ed Del Beccaro. Ed is an East Bay icon in our business and our management team believes he is a perfect fit for TRI Commercial’s platform, which is client centric, entrepreneurial, privately held, locally based yet globally connected. The East Bay is a highly strategic market to our business operations and a stronger team there will complement the offices and professionals TRI currently has in San Francisco, the East Bay, Sacramento and Roseville,” said TRI Commercial Chairman of the Board Charles Wall.
Wall and Del Beccaro have had a long-term relationship and while Wall typically is not involved with daily operations at the real estate services firm, he made the initial call to Del Beccaro based on their existing relationship.

“I view this as a tremendous opportunity to deliver sophisticated, world-class brokerage services and I am particularly excited to help drive a regionally focused platform to its next level. The Greater Bay Area is increasingly one market – including Sacramento, and having the ability to serve clients across the spectrum of property types and tenant requirements is paramount to succeeding in today’s marketplace. After evaluating the East Bay landscape of firms offering commercial real estate brokerage and management services, TRI was a clear choice for me,” Ed Del Beccaro said.
